I got my first iphone a few weeks ago and just the other day I started playing around with a video app. Here's our first video and a peek at a typical day at the studio.
Quiet until friends stop in to say (shout) hellooooo!

shop shelves full of colorful fun stuff.
• new hold it clips with bright hearts.
• our best selling friendship bracelet -having a hard time keeping them in stock!
• the art rail -3ft of twine and three crocheted clothes pins (also available in our etsy shop)
i'll work on getting the hold it clips and friendship bracelets on etsy soon.
i'm heading to new orleans on wednesday -my first time! i will be helping out at a tradeshow with prepak products. prepak manufactures physical therapy equipment and is the parent company of nutrimirror.com and publisher of blanced days, balanced lives -the book mom and i worked on -we prepared, styled, and photographed the food.
here is some fabulous news we received the other day: Kirkus Discoveries has named balanced days, balanced lives as the best nutrition and fitness book of 2010! this is a big deal for us, considering the book is self-published and we're still working on getting the word out and selling it. it's nice to be acknowledged in this way.
since i'll be gone, why not give mom a visit at the store, she'll be there all week.
hope your week is grand.
We are so excited about the package that showed up today at the workshop. THE JAPANESE BOOKS ARE HERE!!!!
We purchased two titles by édition PAUMES, London Family Style and San Francisco Kitchens.
As with the Fashionary journal, the publisher allowed us to purchase a small quantity, 5 of each title, very cool of them.
See how groovy London families style their rooms.
In case you don't know...that's Miss Lisa Congdon and her puppy Wilfredo on the cover of San Francisco Kitchens.
We'd like to say thank you to those that purchased the Fashionary journal, we've only got the store display left! A second order was placed today and we should receive them in 2-3 weeks. If you would like to pre-order the journal, send us a message and we'd be happy to put one aside for you when they arrive.
just some random shots from around the studio. we're happily busy making things for the holidays, the fashion show on nov. 7th (you'll be there right?), packing up an order for clover in seattle, and finalizing our plans for the photo booth on the 14th (you've gotta come out for this one).
have a great weekend, be safe, and don't eat too much candy.
a new cool tie, made from a vintage japanese kimono
a little memorial we've had up at the shop in honor of stella
packing up 12 fabric dot banners
making six felt dot garlands
a sweet wood carving
isabel and her dad visited last week; she's getting the accessorizing thing down.
hurray! we're making mini nu-nu's once again.
and the next batch of treasure bags have a printed logo, pretty cool!
we're having our first art show at m•o•m, this saturday!
vanessa dominy is a local san diego artist; her paintings are whimsical and nostalgic with a good dose of humor.
we think the paintings would be perfect as decor in a kids room.
if you're a local, come on by the shop to meet the artist, sturday august 14th, 4-7pm. we'll have lemonade and small bites.
nothing crazy happened; the weather was gorgeous, some really nice people stopped by, we have a new vase of flowers, and an unexpected but pleasant reunion with distant family members occurred.
day-glo pink carnations are always in style at m•o•m
one of the fun visitors was heather of true birds, along with her husband tyson. what an awesome couple they are. so friendly, so genuine, and so cute. tyson grew up in encinitas, so they know their way around town, but this was the first time they'd happened upon m•o•m. so glad they liked what we're doing here. it's always nice to get a thumbs-up from another creative. heather and her twin sister heidi are the owners and designers of true birds hair accessories.
our second fun visitor was georgia who makes thee most awesome special occasion crowns, under the name modern crush. holy cow, they are gorgeous. i got to try one on and it was spectacular.
this picture does not do it justice.
the layer upon layer of color and texture are so fun; it's pretty much a party on top of your head.
and here's our latest, the square pouch. cute eh?
made from vintage and remnant fabrics and we're using vintage metal zippers too. cute, convenient, and practical. i'm now carrying one in my purse all the time to corral small items, then when my big bag is too much, i just grab the pouch and go.
hello convenience, nice to meet you.
oh yeah, and last night i went out to hear the stone river boys. good ol' country music with a bit of funk thrown in. and great musicians to boot - i love me some dave gonzalez and mike barfield. for any locals reading, they're in town for the week and will play the casbah this friday the 25th.
the popular lizzy bag. this time in simple cream cotton twill with recycled cloth bottom.
we are stocked up on diner aprons, for girls + women.
this little surfer dude and his mom stopped by the store sunday afternoon. how cute is he in his wetsuit!
rosette scarves + the patchwork banner on display.

thanks for visiting and m•o•m says, "don't run with scissors."
last month cousin haley came for her second visit and once again we had a great time. what a good kid she is... easy to talk to, she loves good food, and she likes to help out.
here are a few shots of haley making things down at the workshop.
hi haley! we loved having you with us!
this time haley got all sorts of crafty on us.
the end product, groovy jewelry pouches.
i had to use haley for some new product shots -our cute barrettes!
mom and i look forward to our next visit with haley. although we might be pushing it a bit, next year she turns 14 and we may just be a bit too dorky for her.
let's hope not.
