now that was fun!

our girls rocked the encinitas fashion show! they were so cute and so well behaved; quite professional really. i think having their hair done by a pro made a big difference (thanks katy!).

a MILLION thank yous to greta, erin, eri, josh, and dave for hanging out at the shop while the girls got ready, driving us 5 blocks to the venue (couldn't get the shoes messed up!), standing at the end of the runway so the girls would know when to turn around, and getting the girls back into their own clothes at the end of the evening. greta and eri took photo's; here is greta's post and i can't wait to see what eri captured.

i had big ambitions of taking lots of photo's of the girls getting ready. i also figured since they'd be dolled up, i'd create a fun backdrop and take portraits as well as some group shots. yeah well, most of that didn't happen.
i did manage to snap some shots with the real camera, but i soon realized i was needed elsewhere. thank goodness greta brought her suitcase full of tricks and DID manage a little photo shoot.
it's not easy to be the designer and photographer. *must remember to get a photographer for each event.* maybe it'll be greta -her photo's are great.

here are the few snaps i did get:

mom and i gave ourselves a high-five because everything ran smoothly. we staggered the arrival of the girls; katy had 15 minutes with each one for hair; then we got them dressed and were able to play around a bit more with styling each outfit. this is another area where greta came in handy.

two down, five more to go.

i'm bummed however because i missed one of the girls! actually i got a photo of kazuki with her cute braids and flowers, but i guess i didn't finish the process (in instagram) because the image is gone. :-(

hello, nu-nu in the hair!

antoinette headband was perfect with viviennes short blonde curls.

for us, braids never go out of style.

our crocheted headband/necklace was perfect on amelias cute bobbed hair.

devlins hairdo and antoinette headband were hits with everyone.

gretta got to wear a molly bandana. she didn't want to, but she was a professional and rocked it!
this look was my favorite.

here's the group as we arrived at the venue. in a short time they would walk down the runway to hoots and hollers. really. it was so cute, the audience responded so well to the girls and the clothes.
a few of the girls asked it they could do it again. huge smiles and big hugs ended the evening.

fashion show this saturday

Downtown Encinitas is having its 3rd annual Fashion Show tomorrow evening, Saturday, and we're in it! This is our first time and we've got 7 adorable little girls walking the runway for m.o.m and they are gonna kill it!

We've had so much fun putting together the outfits, styling them "fashion show like"; you know, slightly over-the-top. Our dear friend Katy will do the girls hair, and Greta is gonna help us style the outfits and her daughter Devlin is one of our models. 

Everything has fallen into place quite nicely and all of our idea's have, so far, come to be.
7 pair of Huaraches -check.
Black, white, and various day-go colored tights -check.
Groovy hair ideas -check.

The Fashion show is a fundraiser for local high school kids, so if you can join us Saturday night it's for a good cause... and it'll be a hoot! Who knows how our 7 little models will do on the catwalk? I can't wait to see!

The minikin fashion show was a blast! It was great to see our clothes on a bunch of kids -we don't really get to see much of that, so it was a real treat for us.

Sarah, my cousin from North Carolina came for a visit. We had sooo much fun! What a blast, we miss her already. We pretty much ate our way through her stay: The Kebab Shop, downtown; Bety's Taco's, Encinitas; Roberto's, Solana Beach and Siamese Basil, Encinitas. Sarah got a haircut from the awesome James Mendoza, bought a pair of Raen Optic sunglasses and has incorporated the word groovy into her vocabulary -she's an honorary Southern Californian now.

News at the store: The second shipment of Fashionary journals arrived last week. As before, we only orderd 5, so don't wait too long to come in a check them out. Plus, we found a few more books that we believe you will really like.

yep, we've got the fashionary sketch book and we're beside ourselves with excitment! the box from hong kong arrived an hour ago and we tore into it immediately knowing exactly what it was, because we don't receive packages from hong kong that often...eh-hem, ever.

fashionary is a journal/sketch book for anyone really, but it was tailor made for fashion designers (project runway anyone?). it's like a large moleskin journal but the pages have various tools and information for someone interested in the fashion world.
