vanessa dominy is a local san diego artist; her paintings are whimsical and nostalgic with a good dose of humor.
we think the paintings would be perfect as decor in a kids room.

We're gonna have so much fun next Saturday! Siobhan is a new friend; she and I went to Art Center in Pasadena (at different times), we both majored in photography, and now we're studio neighbors!
For the shoot, m•o•m has created a backdrop and we're pulling out the 4x5 camera and shooting instant film. Siobhan will have mats and frames for an additional $25. It's a complete Mother's Day gift.
A portrait is $40 ($35 for subsequent images). Bring your kids, siblings, dog, or entire family. No appointments, first come first served. Hope to see you Saturday!

all the casts from the show are currently being auctioned on ebay through october 28th -so anyone can bid! i wish they had also photographed the backside of ours -it's just as great as the front. see it here.
well here it is...or here they are; and i have to say we are quite proud of them.
our first idea worked -i love it when that happens -and here you have a cast covered entirely in beautiful strips of fabric.
these will be in a keep a breast group show with other san diego artists this october at swiv tackle circus. this will be our first ever art show (eee!)
the inside of the cast is just as intricate as the front.

this is another part of the Keep A Breast boobies project we've been working on for the last few months.
we're really happy with it and eager to share, but i figured we'd better hand it in to KAB before we show the whole thing.
so hang tight; i'm hoping to hand it over early this week.

in the midst of getting ready for renegade and the second salon á magnolia creek, there have been the boobies for keep-a-breast. they are nearly finished (only the backside to complete) and they turned out so great! we'll finish them when we return from san francisco. for right now, you only get a peek...

these were given to us by Keep A Breast. we will be creating an art piece in our own "m•o•m style" with them. we've started pulling our ideas together and gathering supplies, here are a few pictures. i'll have more when it's finished.
Keep A Breast holds "casting parties" where women come together and have their breasts cast in plaster-all women are welcome to participate. The casts are then given out to artists, skateboarders, musicians, surfers, celebrities and regular folk like us to decorate. Then the casts are auctioned at various functions to raise money.
KAB headquarters is in oceanside and we are friends with the founder, shaney jo; we asked to be involved and then one day these lovelies were delivered to us by UPS, with instructions and a small note attached which simply read sarah.
Since KAB is local, there is going to be a gallery show of castings
in San Diego by San Deigo designers/artists/athletes/musicians/and two women that sew things (that's us) in September. I'll keep you posted.
