Pie Day continues to blow us away. Or more specifically, it's the people that participate in Pie Day that blow us away, as well as the awesome pies that are made. Holy cow, we have some creative bakers around here!
Bianca and Bronson of bink & boo fame were the first to arrive. Bianca did not disappoint with her groovy apron and her seriously tasty savory galette (tomatoes, basil, and garlic, with gruyere and fontina cheeses -hello!). You can be certain that galette did not last long.

My two favorite helpers, Dave and his daughter Isabel -being their usual silly selves here. They were nice enough to show up early and help with the decorations.

Thanks Pete for the chalk fun!

The pies started to arrive.
You know, now that I think about it, every pie brought this year was homemade. Yay! Now don't get me wrong -all pies are welcome, but as we know, homemade is best. And it's just so great to imagine everyone deciding on the pie they would make, going to the market to get their ingredients, then spending the night before or the morning of, in the kitchen baking away. Their homes filled with the smell of sweet baked goods.

The Ott's are a m.o.m event staple. Last year they were out of town for Pie Day and I have to say, it just wasn't the same. Hip-hip-horray for the Ott's and their deep dish apple pie -a crowd favorite! Oh and I must mention the newest member of the family, their little dog Banner. He was very well behaved.

Devin and Robert get an award for the longest distance travelled. They came all the way from Santa Monica to join in on the fun. Thanks guys, you're the best! We're still talking about that colossal apple pie of yours.
Check out Roberts blog, The Junior Society.

Check this pie out. It's called Epic Meat Pie and it was a winner. We laughed, we cried, we screamed in terror and joy. The bakers even brought visual aids to help us along. Can you read the ingredient list in the photo? And yes, that's a bacon lattice top.

I took so many more photo's from the day. You can see them all at Flickr.
Mikayla and her mom have come to every Pie Day. Thanks ladies!!

We made new friends, Nicole and Michelle; that's actually what Pie Day is about.

Our youngest guest, Tallulah who has the sweetest cheeks and best curls in the world... and also really great parents.

And our over-achiever baker with a trifecta of pie!

Alex showed up in the nick of time with her key lime pie and I do believe it was gone in less than 20 minutes. That's a Pie Day record and we'll be keeping score next year to see if she can do it again. It's on!
A million thank yous from me and my mom! Sunday was so good, in so many ways -we continued to talk about the day well into the night. We are so grateful for our little shop and all of you that stop by to say hi and support us.

Let's do this again next year!
